Meet Our Instructors
Jennie Hovard
Founder, Soft Tissue Therapist, Pilates Instructor, and Women’s Coaching Specialist
Career
Jennie has over 7 years experience instructing Pilates and working with musculoskeletal injuries.
In 2015, due to graduate with a degree in education from the University of Stirling, Jennie injured her elbow and the nerves that surround it.
The remedial care that she received prompted Jennie to train as a Soft Tissue Therapist and Pilates Instructor so that she could help people in the same way that she had been helped.
Since then, Jennie has worked with a broad range of clients developing their enjoyment of Pilates and helping them to overcome obstacles such as joint replacement, stroke rehabilitation, arthritis, and other common ailments. Each unique individual has taught her something about movement and health.
3 Things About Jennie
- I am a devoted beachcomber and rely on my Pilates practice to counteract the time I spend stooping to search for sea glass.
- I love reading and my favourite book is A Pocketful of Crows by Joanne Harris. Folklore and magical realism are my favourite genres but chicklit is a guilty pleasure! Click here to shop my book recommendations.
- My first career choice was to become a primary school teacher. But I was inspired by some amazing women during my time at university, and that’s why I became a business owner!
Craig Williams
Yoga Instructor
Career
Craig has practised yoga for 25 years, alongside various martial arts, meditation, and mindfulness. He recently trained as a yoga, meditation, and mindfulness teacher with Zen Master Julian Daizan Skinner. Craig is interested in Zen and the yoga he teaches has roots in the Zen Buddhist Lineage.
Craig says it’s useful to consider Zen in terms of three elements:
Physical Alignment:
The body’s positioning in movement and stillness affects every other dimension of the being.
Mindfulness:
Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh stated ‘I define mindfulness as the practice of being fully present and alive, body and mind united.’
Energetics:
When you engage in the liberating practice of mindfulness of sensations and wake up to the moment-by-moment reality of what you feel in the body, your sense of your system’s vitality becomes clearer. Harmonising the organ systems to movement, the mind and the seasons promotes health, wellbeing, and vitality.
After all, the literal translation of Yoga from its original language Sanskrit amounts to “Union”.

Freequently asked questions
What should I wear to my class?
Please wear something comfortable and reasonably fitted. This will help your instructor to check your technique. We ask that you avoid wearing clothing with belts, buckles, or other hardware, which can damage equipment.
For more gentle classes and meditation sessions please ensure you wear adequate layers to avoid getting cold during slower sections.
You do not need to wear trainers, we practice in socks or bare feet.
What should I bring?
Our studio is stocked with mats and all equipment available to borrow. However, you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Please bring a reuseable water bottle (though no glass please). In warm weather you may need a small hygiene towel.
Can I attend when ill or injured?
We respectfully ask that you do not attend classes when you are unwell to avoid spreading illness amongst our members and instructors. Please give us at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend a class, in line with our cancellation policy.
Our instructors are trained and insured to work with many types of common injury or condition. However, we recommend contacting us ahead to discuss your needs and ensuring you arrive to your first class with time to talk with your instructor.
What is your cancellation policy?
We request that you give as much notice as possible if you are unable to attend a class you have booked. This allows other members a chance to book on in your place.
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class begins will constitute a late cancellation. Unfortunately we are unable to refund money or class passes in the instance of late cancellation.
I'm not very flexible/strong in shape. Are Pilates and yoga right for me?
Yes! Everyone deserves to experience the fantastic benefits of Pilates and yoga. Everyone starts somewhere and our unique bodies all posess different strengths and weaknesses. Whilst you may find one exercise difficult we bet there’s another that you excel at.
Our instructors meet you where you are and offer options throughout the class so you can challenge yourself or stick with the basics depending on how you feel. We encourage members to focus in on their own journey and discourage comparing yourself to others in the class. Yoga & Pilates are personal journeys and we are not in competition, even with ourselves.
Is Pilates just about doing abs? Is yoga just about touching your toes?
No, Pilates is a balanced approach that will strengthen all of your muscles (even the ones you didn’t know you had). This helps to create a strong and open posture with improved balance and joint stability.
Yoga is great for improving flexibility and mobility, but classes usually involve elements of strengthening too. You will also work on calming the mind and improving focus, which makes yoga a fantastic antidote to stress.
